Make it Up

What makeup do you use? What skincare line would you recommend? I like a more natural look and am having trouble finding products I like… Sorry this is a random question, but I’m curious!!

Top (Left to Right) – Frizz Ease Thermal Protection Serum, Vaseline, Brushes and Hair Clip

Bottom (Left to Right) – L’Oreal Voluminous Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black , Covergirl Invisible Concealer in Fair, L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Volcanic, Fairest Nude, and Sugar Plum, Dermalogica Skin Care Line, L’Oreal True Match powder in Soft Ivory, and Blush in Spiced Plum.

Hair: After washing my hair I hop out of the shower and put some frizz ease in it, avoiding the roots of my hair. It helps protect my hair and keep it slick. Then I blow dry it, and use the clip to straighten my hair in sections. My favorite shampoo and conditioner are from the Fekkai Silky Straight line, but I find myself switching shampoos pretty often.

Face: I’d been using the Clinique skincare line but recently switched to using Dermalogica. A travel set of all of the products I use is about $30 and lasts for 1-2 months. The products were recommended by the woman who gives me my facials and have been awesome and preventing breakouts and keeping my skin smooth. I use a wash and a scrub in the shower, and then a toner spray, moisturizer, and under eye cream when I get out of the shower. After using the under eye cream I apply some of the concealer under my eye to hide dark circles. Then I cover that up with the powder, and apply it anywhere else on my face that has shine. Occasionally I will use blush, depending on if I’m wearing any other makeup.

Eyes: If there is any makeup on my eyes after showering I will use some vaseline on a cotton ball to remove it. Vaseline takes off makeup wonderfully, and for a bag of cotton balls and a thing of Vaseline you’ll be out $2, whereas most makeup removers are around $9-12. I only wear mascara, and like it applied pretty dark and clean.

Lips: I also use Vaseline on my lips. When I hop out of the shower I apply some, and usually apply it once more after the rest of my makeup is on. I have the bad habit of biting my lips so this really helps keep things smooth.

While I do Vaseline and use regular chapstick, I’ve recently gotten into lipstick.

Fairest Nude, Sugar Plum, and Volcanic are the L’Oreal Lipsticks that I use. The fairest nude is a very neutral color that blocks a bit of the natural lip color. This is great for a more subdued look. The Sugar Plum is almost the same color as my lips are naturally, but adds some shimmer and evens out the color. If I apply a few layers it is a noticeable color, that goes great with the blush. Volcanic is the brave color of the bunch, being somewhere inbetween a coral and true red. It’s great applied lightly, in a few layers, or applied to my finger and lightly dabbed over a coat of the Fairest Nude. They’re fun colors to mix and play with.

I too prefer a more natural look, but I can’t give much more advice beyond what I use. It may or may not work for you and your skin tone. Hope some of this was helpful. Good luck finding something that works for you!

As far as lipstick I would highly recommend Dior’s Addicted line. Their Lipsticks are full of color and long lasting.

I also use Lancome’s Baby Doll mascara but found that the Loreal Express Lashes are a good cheaper alternative. The Lancome mascara comes without lots of the poison that usually goes into mascara and will last you a good 6 months even with daily use.

I use Nuskin honey beige foundation everyday, it is light, lets your skin breath, looks like you are not wearing anything and yet gives you an even skin tone. This company is brilliant and they have great anti aging skin products, great make up removers etc. You have to register and buy online, they do not sell in shops. Here is the link for the foundation: https://www.nuskin.com/content/nuskin/en_US/products/nuskin/shop_all_products/cosmetics/foundation/liquid_finish.html

Also look into Nuskin products some more if you tend to have difficult skin as far as sensitivity and break outs.

All of the things I have listed are high end. I tend to go for these because I found the quality to be so outstanding and also found these products to last me a long time. Your face is an important part of you. Especially when it comes to creams and foundations, it is so important what you use, because in the long run you can really damage and age your skin if you use the wrong stuff.

    Good luck!

    xx
