And now for your regularly scheduled food pornography.
Earlier this week the sun hit hard and I was dying to bake with some of the fresh foods I’d seen at the grocery store. I mean, what better time to put fruit into a cake, right? So I hit my favorite cooking blogs to see what recipes I’d been putting off, and then I went to the store to pick up some rhubarb and some strawberries to make rhubarb snacking cake and strawberries and cream biscuits. The snacking cake took the longest (about 50 minutes cooking time) but in that time I was able to make the strawberries and cream biscuits and everything finished within about ten minutes of each other allowing for two hot plates of treats to share.
Then last night I was inspired to make this corn dog tots recipe that I found. Because… why not? Little corn dogs you can pop in your mouth like tater tots? We gathered in the kitchen to cut up the dogs (I used the really nice super organic dawgs from Whole Foods, not a necessity, but really delicious) and bread and batter them and then tossed them in the oil. They were amazing, and of course this led to the typical “what else can we fry?” experiment. Strawberries, cucumbers, handfuls of chocolate chips, sweet potato fries, and I even fried some of my rhubarb cake. Needless to say, I’m not eating anything fried for quite some time now.
All recipes that are going in my recipe box as crowd-pleasers that are deliciously bad for you and easy to make. Let me know if you give any of them a try, and let me know what you think!
