Exhibitionism
As you may have noticed there is no exhibitionist post this week. Because I gave no warning I thought it would be fun to do another post along the same lines… and give my own personal thoughts on exhibitionism.
In my own words (because what else would I use?) an exhibitionist is a person who likes to show themselves off… or more specifically, show their genitals off. There is a certain level of psychological arousal behind this that I could get into but that’s really all you need to know. The opposite of exhibitionism is voyeurism. A voyeur enjoys watching.
In my own growth as a sexual identity I have never had any desire in exhibitionism. In fact, even thinking about getting walked in on while partially nude gives me the willies and makes sex relatively difficult. If it were planned exhibitionism (though that isn’t really the point, is it?) I would be more excited about the concept because I would have time to prepare myself.
The closest I’ve gotten to showing off my goods has been having sex outside. Now granted my backyard was a pretty safe place to get it on but my neighbors (one of which was my teacher) often worked out in the yard and we had a low fence. There were passing thoughts of what would happen if they happened to glance over the fence (or look through it) and in those instances I felt empowered. I am in my backyard, and I am naked, and that is my right. It is only nudity, and that is how I felt about it.
Because I doubt this is the experience many of you have had with experience, why don’t you tell me what your experience have been? Do you enjoy exhibitionism? What about voyeurism? Have you enjoyed the stories that have been posted, did you relate to them in any way?
For the purpose of this post, here is the full color version of my header (which is me).

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
You just need to match the exhibitionist with the voyeurs and you have gold.
I’ve posed nude on deviantart.com. I’ve recieved friendly feedback. The experience has been empowering
the post and stories are great. I’ll be glad when ur gettin a “paycheck” for ur skills.
the attraction of the species IMHO is based in large part on women who like to look good (and exhibit that) and men who like to look and get excited by women’s bodies. Gross generalization but most women are exhibitionists and virtually all men are voyeurs (and a percentage that go both ways). There is literally something in our genes that make women’s bodies exciting to men (and even a fair amount of women).
I think the enjoyment of exhibitionism is believing that you are exciting the other person – without that the thrill of exhibiting oneself diminishes greatly. I don’t think it is about “flashing” at all. It’s a seductive dance like the birds do as a precursor to choosing a mate.
So, Lo, before you deny all feelings of exhibitionism, do you like to look good when you go out? Do you know that your header pic is going to turn on many of the guys who see it? Have you ever dressed sexy or danced sexily for your boyfriend and enjoyed it?
I have to admit… I am an exhibitionist in my own way… I am one of those that likes to walk around the house in the nude with my windows open and clean the living room and do my laundry (all dirty practices).. then take my bath, dry lazily while making something to eat/drink/watch some news, before getting dressed and going off for the day… one of life’s many simple pleasures.. in my book at least.
You look gorgeous. I’d like to see more pictures of you.
Now with regard to exhibitionism… Well, when I walk around the apartment naked, I’m aware that people in the neighboring buildings might see me, though I don’t open the curtains in the morning with that in mind. I just know I might be seen through the opening in the curtains, or when I go from the living room to the kitchen, for instance — and I kind of enjoy it. I wouldn’t pass up the chance of teasing some neighbor a little, given the chance (and hoping she won’t call the super). I’m more a nudist than an exhibitionist, though. I like being naked, especially outside under the sun and in the water. I like exhibitionism to the same extent that I’m a voyeur. Narcissism, though, meaning paying too much attention to oneself, being an egotist, that’s a different story, that’s a turn-off.
