Valentine’s Day Pt 1

By suggestivetongue

Here are the forbidden words of an internet blogger, I like Valentine’s Day. Yep, you will find no angsty posts about love here. Singles holiday? Hallmark holiday? You can call it whatever you want, but I prefer to be positive. A day where we can awknowledge and celebrate the great emotion that is love? You don’t have to have a partner, a fiance, a husband or a wife. You just have to have people in your life that you care about. Good? Got that? Now call them, text them, email them, bake for them, send them some snail mail. Tell them that you love them and appreciate them. Valentine’s day is what you make of it, and I chose to celebrate love, not bitch and moan about “what life hasn’t given me”…

Try it, you skeptics!

In the spirit of love- which sometimes accompanies fucking- I thought I would give some of you some ideas of things you can do for your partner or loved ones this holiday. I think gift-giving should be optional but I do think it’s nice to do something for the person you care about even if it’s free. Stay tuned for a short-series of posts on this before the 14th.

Part 1: Baked Goods

Whether it be cookies shaped like hearts, crème brûlée (my favorite), or your lovers favorite candy wrapped with a bow… food is always a nice surprise. It doesn’t have to be sweet, either. Find out what the recipient of your loves favorite dinner is and make it. Steak and potatoes with a bottle of wine? A fresh loaf of baked cinnamon bread? A cocktail waiting for them when they get home? Food- especially food that puts off a sweet aroma- is a great way to set the mood for a special occasion. Just be sure to stray from foods that contain dairy if your partner is lactose intolerant or beans, if you plan on having fresh air in the bedroom.

Check out http://gluttonyisabliss.tumblr.com/ for ideas. It’s one of my favorite food porn weblogs!

You can also take this to another, more romantic kinky level. Take some chocolate fondue and a paintbrush, heat it up, and paint over your partners body while licking it off. Just make sure to ignore the genitals, sugar can mess up the pH balance and send you swingin’ for a yeast infection. Some adult stores sell genital-friendly body paints.

Does cooking become a part of how you show your love and affection? What is your favorite thing to cook for your one (or many) special people?

Stay tuned for pt 2, where things get a little dirtier.

My hubby isn’t big on sweets, and I cook all the time, so I’m still in search of something to do/get for him. I love ur positive vday outlook!

I like to make breakfast pancakes for my girlfriend. But my speciality is a candy called “brigadeiro” in my country. You mix chocolate powder, condensed milk and margarine, cook it for about 10 min (always stirring), and that’s it. Let it cool off and then you can either eat it just there or make it into little chocolate balls. The secret is when to turn off the gas in order to have the best consistency… I’d say – chewy. By and large, though, I suck at cooking.
